by Dana Samantha Lindsey
Lind was tall, dark and handsome. Open, honest, freeing—and taken. So what was she doing?
Dana’s Loves – Book 1: Lind begins where ordinary rules of love fall away.
The last few slices of pizza sat untouched, only remnants of crust left on their plates. The hum of the pizzeria had quieted as the night wore on, the once-packed tables thinning out. Dana leaned back against the red vinyl booth, her beer glass in hand, and let out a small sigh.
“So, yeah,” she said, swirling the last sip of beer before finishing it off. “That was my illustrious dating history. A lot of frogs, not a prince in sight.”
Lind was grinning as he lifted his glass. “Is that all of them? You had mentioned having one or two over the last couple of years.”
Dana blinked, caught off guard. “Who told you that?”
His grin widened slightly. “You did.” Lind tapped his ear. “Well, not directly, but I’ve overheard you and Brenda talking now and then. And that ‘boy toy’ comment at the bar? Pretty obvious.”
Dana groaned, feeling the heat crawl up her neck. “Is it the beer making me so confessional?”
Lind didn’t answer, just gave her a questioning smile and waited.
With a sigh, Dana set down her empty glass and admitted, “Fine. I have tried the ‘boy toy’ thing a few times over the last couple of years. But they were much more boy than toy.” She shrugged, face warming even more. “So I stick to killing batteries.”
Lind smiled, letting her words hang between them for a moment, studying her with a look that made her stomach tighten in a way she wasn’t sure she liked. Then, with an easy grin, he said, “Maybe you just need someone who doesn’t care that you want pineapple on pizza.”
That caught Dana off guard. But then she huffed a laugh. “Or someone who doesn’t try to turn my dating life into a personality quiz.”
Lind leaned forward slightly, holding her gaze. “I’ve been around you for about a year now, Dana. I like your personality.”
She hadn’t expected that either—not so direct, not so… sincere. Her stomach tightened again, and this time, there was no mistaking what it was.
Jesus, is it possible to actually combust from blushing?
Lind watched her, caught by how open she was, even if it wasn’t on purpose.
He had more questions.

Her heart was still racing, the warmth of his lips and the slow brush of his nose against hers making her entire body hum with ‘that’ energy. She gripped the edge of her car door to steady herself, pulse pounding in her ears.
I almost lost it right there. Almost.
Who was she kidding? If he’d kissed her again, if he had even leaned in the slightest bit closer, she would have jumped him—right there, in broad daylight, in the middle of the damn parking lot.
Forget coy—I’m ready. Right here, right now. And he just says ‘see ya’? What the hell is he so afraid of?
This man is going to drive me crazy—And I’m letting him.
